Bitcoin (BTC) is down to $67,000, but some Solana-based meme coins like Book of Meme (BOME) are doing well.
Another memecoin, Slerf (SLERF), surged in price before it was involved in suspicious activity and cost investors $10 million in funds.
The correction in the cryptocurrency market has intensified over the past 24 hours, with Bitcoin (BTC) falling to $67,000 for the first time in two weeks. However, some Solana-based meme coins continue to defy the negative trend and post impressive gains.
A clear example is Book of Meme (BOME), which saw its valuation briefly surge by 30% on a daily basis before easing back slightly over the next few hours.Its market capitalization crossed the $700 million mark, making it the 137th largest cryptocurrency. Recall that BOME joined the top 100 club earlier this week, when its market capitalization approached $1.5 billion. The asset is one of the newest memecoins based on the Solana blockchain. It was launched a few days ago and has already received support from leading cryptocurrency exchanges such as Binance and Bitrue.
Another similar coin that has made a splash recently is the sloth-themed Slerf (SLERF). As CryptoPotato reported on March 19, its price peaked at nearly $1.30, likely driven by the massive excitement surrounding the coin and support from HTX.
SLERF was also one of the assets handled by a mystery trader who made around $3.5 million in profits in less than three days (at least on paper).
Still, today its valuation is heavily in the red, and the token has also been implicated in questionable activity, with the developers behind it accidentally burning $10 million worth of funds raised from investors during the presale.
